Taragarh or The Star Fort is one of the most impressive forts of Rajasthan. Perched on a thickly wooded hill is a marvellous white fort with a huge reservoir which once supplied water to the palace. The Palace is a magnificent edifice and a fine example of Rajput architecture, housing some of the superb Bundi murals.

Visible from the Fort is the square artificial lake of Nawal Sagar, broken up by islets. A temple dedicated to Varuna, the Aryan God of water, stands half submerged in the centre of the lake. The lake reflects the entire city and its palaces, making it a unique attraction.

Don’t miss a visit to Raniji-ki-baori, a 46 meter deep step well with some superb carvings on its pillars and a high arched gate. This well is one of the largest of its kind.

From Bundi you can visit Rameshwaram, cave temple of Lord Shiva, Keshavraipatan, an ancient city famous for the temple of Keshavraiji or Jait Sagar Lake, a picturesque lake cradled in the hills, its swirling fountain is a visual delight in the night.
