23 Days Delhi-Rajasthan-Agra-Orccha-Khajuraho-Varanasi
Day 1: arrival in Delhi and transfer to your hotel.
Day 2: after breakfast we start the drive to Mandawa,
in the Shekawati region. After check-in at your
hotel sightseeing in Mandawa and around. The
Shekawati region is famous for its beautiful painted
havelis. Late afternoon back to your hotel.
Day 3: to-day we drive from Mandawa to Bikaner.
After arrival and check-in at the hotel we pay a
visit to the famous, impressive, Junagarh Fort. The
decorations of the palaces within the fort are the
highlights. There is also a fascinating Museum. Our
last visit for to-day is to Deshnok and its famous
Rat Temple. Late afternoon back to your hotel.
Day 4: after breakfast we leave for Jaisalmer and
make a stop on the way in Falodi, to visit a
beautiful Jain Temple. We will arrive in Jaisalmer
at the beginning of the evening. Check-in at your
hotel.
Day 5: to-day we make a sightseeing tour of
Jaisalmer, also called the Golden City, in the heart
of the desert, where every house is exquisitely
carved, having filigreed work all over. We pay a
visit to Patwa Haveli, Nathmal Ki Haveli and Salim
Singh Ki Haveli, which are truly unsurpassed in
splendour and to Jaisalmer Fort, which contains
within its walls seven beautiful yellow sandstone
Jain Temples. In the late afternoon we make a camel
ride to Sam Dunes, to see the sunset.
Day 6: after breakfast we start our drive to
Jodhpur. On the way we make a stop in Osiyan, an
ancient desert town, and pay a visit to its
exquisite Jain temples. After arrival in Jodhpur
check-in at your hotel and a visit to Mehrangarh
Fort, one of the best forts in India. After a visit
to Jaswant Thada, a cluster of royal cenotaphs in
white marble, we go back to the hotel.
Day 7:. after a visit to Umaid Bhawan Palace, which
is the largest private residence in the world, and
has the finest examples of art-deco, we drive to
Bhadrajun Fort. Check-in at the heritage hotel.
Day 8: after breakfast we will make a jeep safari
and visit a small village, where you can witness
village life, have a traditional lunch and visit the
school. In the afternoon we make a second jeep
safari to a nearby temple and later try to spot
wildlife. Thereafter back to the hotel.
Day 9: from Bhadrajun we drive to Udaipur. On the
way we will make a stop at Ranakpur, which is one of
the five most important pilgrimage sites of Jainism
and it is home to an exceptionally beautiful temple
complex. We will stop at Kumbalgarh Fort as well,
its walls stretch some 36 km, the second largest
walls in the world. After arrival in Udaipur
check-in at your hotel.
Day 10: to-day we make a sightseeing tour in
Udaipur. First we visit the City Palace, a majestic
architectural marvel towering over the lake on a
hill surrounded by crenellated walls. Two island
palaces, Jag Mandir and Jag Niwas, are breathtaking.
If the water level allows we will make a boat ride
on Lake Pichola. Furthermore we will pay a visit to
Saheliyon-ki Bari, a small ornamental garden which
was a popular relaxing spot where royal ladies came
for a stroll. Late afternoon back to your hotel.
Day 11: from Udaipur we drive to Bijaipur, a small
village, and make a stop on the way in Chittorgarh,
which is dotted with imposing forts and graceful
palaces. After check-in at the hotel the rest of the
day is free, and you can relax at the swimming pool.
Day 12: after breakfast we drive to Pushkar, which
is one of the most important places in Rajasthan
because it is a very important pilgrimage centre for
Hindus. After check-in at the hotel sightseeing in
Pushkar, visit to several temples and the various
ghats by the lake.
Day 13: from Pushkar we drive to Jaipur, the capital
of Rajasthan, also called the Pink City. After
check-in at the hotel we will pay a visit to the
City Palace, a complex of courtyards, gardens and
buildings. Its museum contains a collection of royal
costumes and superb shawls. In the Hall of Private
Audience you will see enormous silver vessels,
reputedly the largest silver objects in the world.
To watch the sunset we drive to Nahargarh, from
where you have a beautiful view all over Jaipur.
Thereafter back to the hotel.
Day 14: in the morning after breakfast a visit to
Amber Fort, which is a beautiful example of Rajput
architecture. You will ride up to the Fort on an
elephant. In the afternoon we will continue
sightseeing in Jaipur and pay a visit to the Hawa
Mahal, also called the Palace of the Winds, an
extraordinary, pink-sandstone palace, one of
Jaipur’s most distinctive landmarks. Last part of
to-day’s program is a visit to Jaipur’s vibrant
markets. Jaipur is a shopping heaven, with an
amazing range of crafts, jewelry, (semi)-precious
stones, textiles and block prints. Late afternoon
back to the hotel.
Day 15: from Jaipur we go to Ranthambore National
Park, one of the finest tiger reserves in the
country. After check-in at the hotel we make our
first jeep safari.
Day 16: to see as much wildlife as possible, and to
increase your chance of spotting tigers, we will
make two jeep safaris to-day, one in the early
morning, and one late afternoon.
Day 17: after breakfast we start the drive to Agra,
via Fatehpur Sikri, a magnificent fortified ghost
city. Its well-preserved palace buildings and the
still-used mosque are the main points of interest.
After arrival in Agra check-in at your hotel and a
visit to the Red Fort. It’s a massive red-sandstone
fort, surrounded by double walls rising over 20m in
height, containing a maze of buildings, forming a
city within a city. Late afternoon back to the
hotel.
Day 18: in the early morning at sunrise a visit to
the Taj Mahal. Thereafter back to your hotel for
breakfast and check-out, so we can start our drive
to Orccha. After arrival in Orccha check-in at your
hotel and start a sightseeing tour in this medieval
city. Late afternoon back to the hotel.
Day 19: from Orccha we drive to Khajuraho. After
arrival and check-in at your hotel you have the
afternoon free. In the evening we pay a visit to the
temple complex for a well made light and sound show,
covering the history, philosophy and the art of
sculpting of these temples.
Day 20: to-day we visit the temples of Khajuraho,
which are famous for their erotic sculptures. The
monuments have been listed as a UNESCO World
Heritage Site. After the visit to the temples, the
rest of the day is free.
Day 21: to-day we will fly to Varanasi, the Holy
city of India. Varanasi is regarded as a holy city
by Hindus, Buddhists and Jains and more than 1
million pilgrims visit the city each year. After
check-in at your hotel we pay a visit to Sarnath,
10km from Varanasi, a green and peaceful place, to
see several Buddhist temples and monasteries. Late
afternoon back to your hotel.
Day 22: in the early morning at sunrise we make a
boat ride along the Ganga to view the ghats, an
experience not to be missed. After that back to the
hotel for a late breakfast. The rest of the day is
free to explore Varanasi and maybe do some shopping.
Varanasi is famous for silk.
Day 23: to-day we take a train or flight back to
Delhi, where your tour ends.
